Previous Teen Production Shows
We absolutely love running our Teen Production Class! These are some of the fun shows these talented young actors have performed for family and friends over the last few years:
Our talented cast actors from the Fall 2013 Teen Production worked hard for 3 months rehearsing for their production of STRESSED. They worked on their acting technique, voice, physicality onstage, blocking, timing, set design, costume design and character development. Due to their hard work and dedication their production of Alan Haehnel’s 4 hander was a comedic explosion of voices, ideas and opinions. The eruption of chaos and hilarity done in ‘theatre in the round’ was both intimate and humorous which allowed the audiences to laugh their worries away, and allowed these young actors to be proud of the extensive effort they had put into this project!
SPARE CHANGE was the Spring 2013 Teen Production and a brand new Canadian Play written by our very own Artistic Director Alexandra Lent. This play focused on the topics of fair trade and globalization mirroring two very different parts of the world. Although the characters from opposing continents were different, their dreams, desires and struggle for change were very similar which is what made this piece beautiful and relevant. This hard working and talented cast of teenage actors rehearsed this piece for 3 months and then toured it 10 times to local theatres, libraries and festivals, as well as out to Sault Ste. Marie for our annual trip to SOOTHFEST. Their performances there won 4 awards including best script! The heart and dedication of this cast was incredible which made it a memorable and exciting few months together!
Spring 2012 our Youth Production Program put on an incredible Canadian play called ‘Mirror Game’ by Dennis Foon. This play dealt with the topics of bullying and the cycle of violence using teenage characters. Our cast of teen actors did a fantastic job with the subject matter, dedicating themselves to 3 months of rehearsals and then touring across Ontario performing the show 9 times for the public, elementary & secondary school audiences and then finally travelling to Sault Ste. Marie for the SoothFest21 youth theatre festival. The cast had the performance of their lifetime in the ‘Soo’ on a professional stage, and received 10 nominations and 2 awards for their stellar performance. We had a fantastic time working on this show and will always remember it fondly!
Sucked In was To Be Determined Theatre Co.’s debut show in 2011!! It was an exciting rehearsal and production process as everything was brand new! With our first teen production cast we decided to do an original script and these young performers spent over a month in rehearsals collaborating collectively to create their very own script. We then had a professional script writer from the area polish all their ideas into the final draft of ‘Sucked In’, a tale of fantasy, greed, other worlds and above all loyalty. After 3 months of creation and rehearsals the cast performed their hard work for a public audience. The pride and ownership the cast had for this script was contagious. It reminded us that youths have the potential to do whatever they put their mind to! It inspired TBD Theatre to keep on doing what we’re doing.
